As he asked for info about disc brake
conversion, I had replied that a booster might be good enough to
improve the drum brakes. Here is why that idea may not be enough
braking power. Yikes!
You are also right about needing a proportioning
valve. I will likely need to change the master cylinder also.
I want to do this as I am now running 330hp,
400ft/lbs torque with pull to 5500 rpm with a shift kit in the C4
tranny and Red Ram Racing Tranny fluid...plenty of go...need more
whoa!
The motor is from Ford Performance Racing and comes
broken in/wet with a supplied dyno. This little car with the 302
Boss motor and Edelbrock Intake and 650cf carb is both quick and
fast.
It can easily go over 120 mph with the top removed and
wearing wind goggles with the little wing windows removed. I did
that at the track and the back of the rear seat flew out and got
scuffed a little haha.
New motor, radiator, fan and firewall with battery relocated.
This shows the new steering wheel, tach, and vintage vacuum gauge
along
with the new gas tank motor ??
KYB (brand name) shocks, grille
in radiator shell from 2009 Cad CTS V, tranny cooler and gauges.
Leaking gas tank removed from between the exhaust...was actually
contacting the pipes...Flowmaster 40's mufflers. Loud and proud.
As you can see from all the pics that I am turning this mild
mannered
Glassic into a 330 hp 400ft/lb torque traditional hot rod.
The C4 tranny has been beefed up with a shift kit added and will
handle up to 600 hp so it is way stronger than I need and runs cool.
I have relocated the battery to the depression under the rear
passenger seat.
I an using a 15 lb Braille race car battery. It fits perfectly there.
Here are pics of the battery placement in recess under the rear
seat.
Don the other pic is of the rear seat back. Progress on this little
Glassic rod marches on.
On the front disc brake project I am trying to source a kit through
D&D Econo Disc Brakes. (Chris is working on
converting to front
disc brakes so that his stopping power matches his increased
go-power.) We await a report on his success!)
