The Plans

12/2/02 -- OUR SPACE IS BOOKED - I have contracted for rooms at The Hotel to be held at $49.00 per night, and have reserved the conference room. The hotel is Amerisuites Airport NE, and they are ready to take reservations. Unfortunately, to get our rate, you must contact the hotel directly at (407) 240-3939 and tell them that your group is the GLASSIC CAR OWNERS REUNION. This rate is good for one week before and one week after our May 2, 3, 4 weekend, so you can use this rate for an Orlando vacation too if you want.
Please email me when you have reserved your room.
Name, car # (if any), nights staying, where you are
coming from, how many in your party.

Stay somewhere else? Fine! If you have a "frequent sleeper" plan, etc. or if you want to drive in each day from nearby. I have a list of hotels within walking distance of the AmeriSuites if you want it, although they all quite "nice" and likely will not be less expensive. More interaction with other owners is likely if you stay at the AmeriSuites, but staying there is in no way required.

11/15/02 -- A proposed contract is being written by the Amerisuites in Orlando. They have already agreed to a very good rate, and we are "discussing" costs for meeting room space.

NOTE:

I, Don, will not profit from this venture -- if we get enough people for ANY complimentary rooms (unlikely, since I asked for a low room quote to begin with) it will go to our guest of honor. No comp rooms were written into the "contract" with AmeriSuites.

11/12/02 -- Orlando is now a more likely site for our gathering. I am in contact with a very nice Amerisuites near the Orlando airport to try to get a good rate for us. If I succeed, then we can soon start reserving our rooms. This hotel has little kitchens in each room and is very nice. They even have a meeting-gathering room and a great buffet breakfast. Joel, our "guest of honor" has said that he will attend if we meet in Orlando. I will report back if we are able to get a good enough rate to lock them in as the site for this gala event. With Orlando as a choice
10/29/02 -- West Palm Beach is in the lead for location, especially Since Joel, the "Founding Father" of the Glassic / Replicar empire says that he may be able to get one or more former employees to show up if we meet in West Palm. I am now struggling with finding a "base of operations" modestly priced motel to use as a "suggested" headquarters. I have also started the above list of prospective attendees. -- The dates are getting firmer, and I suppose that we will make Saturday afternoon and evening the PEAK time for those who can't devote three days to this kind of an event. --

IMPORTANT: People must realize that it is absolutely optional whether they bring their Glassic. It will be just as much fun if your drive your boring car and bring pictures of your Glassic.

10/23/02 -- Today I ordered a listing of Glassic owners in Florida from the DMV. I will report on what results I get for my $50 minimum fee. May 2,3,4, 2003 and a location of Orlando.
9/1/02 --Dates -- May 2, 3, 4

Conflicts around then are:

Easter (April 20th) and Spring break (often the week before or after Easter)

Mother's day is May 11

May 26th is Memorial Day.

8/27/02 -- A couple of expressions of interest and ideas have come in so far. NJ & New Mexico as well as the obvious Florida. Ideas for further comment:

Incorporate a TOUR along with the meet.

Publicity is important since sellers may want to attend and would want to find buyers. Getting maximum exposure important once the date and place are set.

8/24/02

Today I sent a "mass mailing" to gauge interest. The comments I get back will be summarized, or quoted on this page -- newest info will be added at the top of the page.

Send your comments, suggestions, etc. to GlassicAnnex@aol.com

This group rate is for a Single / Double suite with kitchen and breakfast buffet, and the rate is only good for reservations made by April 15, 2003, so book NOW before you forget. Cancel later (at least 24 hours before the reservation date) if your plans change.

To get our group rate, you must contact the hotel directly at (407) 240-3939 and tell them that your group is the GLASSIC CAR OWNERS REUNION. This rate is good for one week before and one week after our May 2, 3, 4 weekend, so you can use this rate for an Orlando vacation too if you want. This is a NICE place! Here is a link to their webppage:

Here are a couple of pics of the suite that I stayed in at that hotel. These are what we got BEYOND the regular bed and bathroom part. We had a king bed, they also have 2 beds and a pull out couch as an option.

Who is invited -- who is NOT

Everyone is invited! This is NOT just for Glassic owners. Anyone who is interested can attend - whether you are thinking of buying one, selling one, or just curious. You absolutely do NOT need to bring your Glassic -- it would be fun if you could, but not at all required. The hotel is near the Orlando Airport (ORD) and the hotel has an airport shuttle.

You do NOT have to stay at the hotel to participate in activities. There is no cost for anything at this reunion unless the participants vote to "go in on" pizza or carry-in food, or soft drinks, etc.
