"Angelique"
Glassic 1254 -This is a re-do of this webpage in 2015 with the
same info back when I started the website, but
I re-named the photos from things like "picture 1" to the new convention of
starting with the VIN
Angelique is a 78 Glassic. The owner previous to the
seller had a rebuilt engine installed, new tires, new
brakes, and a nice new black interior installed. The seller had the car painted. The picture does not reflect this truly subtle paint job. It was cloudy when these pics were taken. |
|
I took the car with the seller in front and my wife in the back and we cruised up and down the interstate for a while. I was ready to try to write a check except ---
The rear brakes tightened up as we returned home and
bellows of smoke were coming from both wheels. That put a
temporary halt to the negotiations. By the next week the seller had replaced a brake hose and says that all is ok now with the brakes. |

We agreed on a purchase price of $12,000. Car was picked up the third week of June, 2001. Lots of nice re-done stuff on this car, but no trunk or luggage rack, no curtains, no wind wing windows etc. Plenty of chance to spend even MORE money. |
|
June, 2001 Arriving home after dealing with the DMV and paying over $650 to register the car. (Tax). One of the hubcaps fell off the spare tire on the maiden 30 mile trip home, and was retrieved inches from a storm drain. The car made it home in fine style! |
|
After MUCH ado, we named the car Angelique, or
Annie for short. This is named after a character in a
book my wife wrote. Angelique is a hooker -- you know,
someone who looks real flashy, takes your money and
screws you. |

Side view. Does the top go further down?
Nice re-done interior, brand new bucket seats. It is good that they recline some to see out the tiny windshield.
Wife's favorite photo of gleeful new owner.
Don's pose on the running board. Yes, it held the weight.
The back seat is un-usable with the top down.
Side view with the sun in the wrong place. |
